What does the Future Look Like? - Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan

What does your future look like and what are you willing to give up for it? - this message was my key takeaway from the entire expo. The expo, without looking at at the website and in my own experience - was massive are with every country having a pavillion to display what was important to their country and what they envision the future in their nation and in the world to look like. Some countries followed the assignment more than others but what I can say is everyone had an impressive pavilion with displays of how unique, beautiful, yet united we all are. Amidst this harmony it’s easy to forget that missiles are flying around on the other side of world.

My favorites Pavilions / Concepts : (exterior design - lines were long to enter):

  • Poland, France, Italy

  • Robots for mobility and help more people be functioning members of society

  • The environment is top of mind for everyone

  • Megacities in the future - how does our life change in them (reminds me of Robocop)

  • Countries posting their mission statements and values - I liked Malaysia’s emphasis on talent, sustainability and innovation. Southeast Asian countries really have a chance to “catch up” with development if they spend their resources and attention wisely.

Food:

  • Philippines (wanted to try other ones but the lines were also very long)

  • Milk soft serve ice cream

How does your future grow? What would you give up for it?
